Another Song for You

A patch of green grass
amidst a field of sunflowers
a bright sun shining overhead
is the only way to count the hours

our basket is open
our blanket is spread
a cool breeze dances
through the hairs on our head

we feed each other grapes
bananas pineapples and pears
nothing belongs to one of us
everything is shared

tortilla chips and pita
which we dip in guacamole and hummus
as we listen to the sounds of life
and share the air with the creatures among us

bunny grahams for dessert
the cute little fellas
hopping across the blanket
and into the nutella

when the meal is done
and we’ve eaten our share
we’ll lay down together
and breath the cool evening air

we’ll watch the day descend
and paint it’s sunset in the sky
and then we’ll find our light
from our friends the fireflies

we’ll say “thanks for the light,
you guys are the best”
and then our fingers will lock
and your head will move to my chest

And we’ll lie and take in
the stars in the sky
until a syzygystic force draws
your eyes to meet mine

and we’ll start a new story
one that doesn’t need words
for we’ll be the only characters
and we need but one single verb

how to use:

as common as carbon is a poetic stream of consciousness.
there are 3 categories of “poems”:

(i) heteroglossic synesthesia (complete poems)
(ii) hobonyms (words with no homes)
(iii) mind jerky (thoughts to chew on)

after reading a poem you have 3 options to “turn the page”

“RANDOM” – takes you to a random poetic expression
#hastags – take you to another random poem with the same theme or motif
#category – takes you to a random poem in the same category

“no one can step in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and they are not the same person” – possibly Heraclitus

just as no one can step in the same river twice, no one can have the same experience of “as common as carbon” twice
