It’s been a while
since I’ve dreaded my bed
it’s been a while

strange thoughts up there
sometimes I think things
that other people don’t want to hear
sometimes I wonder
what it will be like
to live a life
watching things
people
friends
family
die
it makes me anxious
it makes us all nervous
so try to think about
the good things
all the things that
you can call wonderful
the smell of a lilac bush
the taste of a leaf of basil
the sound of a sweet song
the feel of green grass between your toes
the sight of their eyes
so take a deep breath
and remember to feel the breeze
next time you’re outside
shake a hand and feel
the texture of another’s flesh
look at the sky
what color is it?
what do you see?
ask yourself
where do you want to go?
what do you want to do?
and go
