I woke up with you in my head

tried to wash you out
tried to shake you out
tried to smoke you out
couldn’t do it
probably could never do it
we’ve done all these things together
I’ve done all of these things with
so many others
but you,
I sent you a message
about a dream
in a dream
how many layers
of (sub) consciousness
must I sift through
to find your situation/position
in my head/mind
I guess I just wanted to share a thought

I think we could be best friends
if we didn’t hold each other
so close
if we didn’t tear each other
apart
but there’s too much blood now
we will be together someday
when the vultures come

how to use:

as common as carbon is a poetic stream of consciousness.
there are 3 categories of “poems”:

(i) heteroglossic synesthesia (complete poems)
(ii) hobonyms (words with no homes)
(iii) mind jerky (thoughts to chew on)

after reading a poem you have 3 options to “turn the page”

“RANDOM” – takes you to a random poetic expression
#hastags – take you to another random poem with the same theme or motif
#category – takes you to a random poem in the same category

“no one can step in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and they are not the same person” – possibly Heraclitus

just as no one can step in the same river twice, no one can have the same experience of “as common as carbon” twice
