This morning I saw a picture

of a child the size of
a grain of rice
It was growing in
my friend.
Her strength is what
we, her friends,
respect,
love,
But this morning
she was sick
and I saw the worry
and she has cause for concern.
And while it is hers alone
to carry
we must let her know,
we all have cause for concern
and we would all love
to lighten the load
Her best friend walks nearby
eyes always watching
ears always listening
for a chance to help
and even if one doesn’t arise
that fact
his presence
in her life
his love for his friends
rooted the deepest in her
in you,
Sarah,
will hopefully comfort you
and remind you
that he will
always
be there
We all will be there
You’ve had his back,
my back,
all of your friends
know you
and love you

how to use:

as common as carbon is a poetic stream of consciousness.
there are 3 categories of “poems”:

(i) heteroglossic synesthesia (complete poems)
(ii) hobonyms (words with no homes)
(iii) mind jerky (thoughts to chew on)

after reading a poem you have 3 options to “turn the page”

“RANDOM” – takes you to a random poetic expression
#hastags – take you to another random poem with the same theme or motif
#category – takes you to a random poem in the same category

“no one can step in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and they are not the same person” – possibly Heraclitus

just as no one can step in the same river twice, no one can have the same experience of “as common as carbon” twice
